What will the apprentice be doing on site
This is an excellent opportunity to join Just42's staff team as a Youth Work Apprentice.
As a long established local charity we offer quality youth and children’s work within a Christian ethos. Just42 is committed to the importance of safeguarding and promoting children/young people’s welfare.
The Apprentice will be working alongside our team of experienced and qualified Youth Workers across our different youth projects. This will include working in our 4 rural youth clubs, schools work and also our mentoring project. Our clubs and projects offer a safe place for young people to meet their friends, our friendly team are there to lead those projects, provide fun activities and a listening ear for the young people. This is a fantastic opportunity to come and join us to make a difference to local young people!
For safeguarding purposes applicants need to be aged 18 years and over.
Post Objectives
1. To assist in the delivery of focussed sessions of youth work.
2. To achieve a level 3 Diploma in Youth work with UCAN college.
3. To contribute to the staff team and the development of our work.
4. To help make a difference to the young people that attend our clubs and projects.
5. To help fulfil our aims and objectives through our annual and termly work plans.
Main Responsibilities
1. To help with general youth work such as building relationships, planning and facilitating activities with and for young people, running a tuck shop within the clubs. Also to help set up and get ready for the sessions, pack away and evaluate.
2. To help to develop and implement and agreed programme of youth provision.
3. To follow good youth work practice according to our policies and procedures.
4. To help maintain safe boundaries with the young people during the sessions.
5. To help develop our curriculum within the clubs and projects, to help build relationships with parents and other community members in the villages.
6. To help increase the use of social media to promote the work of our organisation, (currently we have Facebook and Instagram accounts.)
Essential qualities

GCSE or equivalent Maths & English (Grade 4 or C) Essential
Qualifications Required
Due to the rural settings of our projects, access to transport to and from our office in Woodbridge is essential.
Work Week: 24 hours per week over 4 days and evenings - Monday to Thursday. Most of our clubs run during term times only, after school. The hours include time for "off the job" training. Some flexibility will be needed regarding the weekly schedule.
Wages: £7000 per annum, £7 per hour rising to National Minimum Wage after one year. As a session worker certain terms will apply, these will be discussed at interview.
