What will the apprentice be doing on site
This is a General Farm Worker Apprenticeship which can lead to pathways into a career in either Dairy Farming or Crop technician (arable.)
You will be working between the two sides of a busy, 4th generation, 600 acre dairy farm and the arable land that feeds the cows, learning the skills required for general farming from animal care to feeding and cleaning pens.
On a daily basis you will be:
Assisting with milking operations using state of the art equipment.
Using machinery to move supplies and equipment.
Basic tractor work including trailers.
Assisting with calf rearing.

The apprentice must have their own transport as this role is in a rural location with little to no public transport

Driving licence and own transport
What sort of candidate are you looking for
The apprenticeship would suit someone with a strong interest in farming who is willing to work varied hours as required and is used to hard work in challenging conditions.
Essential qualities
The apprentice must be comfortable with outdoor working in all weather and have a driving licence or own transport.
Desirable qualities
The apprentice will need to be hard working, willing to work with others and happy working around large animals.
Qualifications Required
Functional Skills level 1 in English and Maths or GCSE Grade 2-3 in each.

This is a family run business supporting 400 milking cows and 100 acres of arable land that feeds the cows.
The farm supports the milk ice cream and beef industries.
