Lean Manufacturing Operative

What will the apprentice be doing on site

We have a unique and exciting opportunity for a creative and dedicated apprentice to join a specialist stained glass company as part of the team involved in designing, restoring and conserving stained glass windows. The apprentice will be working with multiple materials and working towards a level 2 Lean Manufacturing qualification.

Working both in the studio workshop and then out on site, the apprentice will be involved with carrying out design and restoration commissions, some of their work involving glass as early as the 14th century.

As well as working with glass, the apprentice will work with metal and wood, repairing casements and ferramenta as well as applying protective processes to prolong the life of window panels.

This is a very rare opportunity to learn and develop heritage skills and become part of a specialist craft.

The role will be intricate and will take a real eye for detail to include:

•Traditional templating, cut-lining, glass cutting, lead-working, soldering, cementing

•Metal frame fabrication
